According to an Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office press release, on “May 10, 2016, an Evangeline Parish Sheriff Deputy while conducting a Traffic Enforcement Detail observed a subject on a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed.”
The release stated that the pursuit began on Chataignier Rd. near Blue Junction, which is where “the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, and the driver failed to stop.”
The driver on the bike, Tyler M. Fuselier, of Eunice, led law enforcement officers from EPSO, Louisiana State Police Troop I, St. Landry Sheriff’s Office, and Ville Platte Police Department on a pursuit that began around 10 a.m. Tuesday morning.
In the midst of the pursuit a roadblock was set up at Chataignier St. and W. Hickory St. in Ville Platte, which the driver of the motorcycle managed to pass around.
Fuselier then continued onto E. Main St. and headed eastbound until the pursuit came to an end on Opelousas Rd. near Adeuse Lane when the driver surrendered.
According to the press release, Fuselier “was placed under arrest and is charged with speeding, reckless operation, driving under suspension, failure to register a vehicle, no motorcycle endorsement, improper lane usage, failure to signal, passing in a no passing zone, and aggravated flight from an officer.”
Fuselier was booked in the parish jail.
