Ville Platte High takes two wins; Lady Trojans fall

In non-district action this past week, the Ville Platte High Bulldogs and the Lady Bulldogs traveled to St. Landry Parish to take on the North Central Hurricanes and Lady Hurricanes in hoops action.
Anytime the Lady Bulldogs and the Lady Hurricanes get together on the hardwood, you can count on it being a great game. This time was no exception, as Ville Platte needed overtime to defeat North Central 66-64.
The Bulldogs were looking to secure their fourteenth win of the season against the No. 11 ranked team in Class 1A, North Central. Ville Platte had little trouble, as they motored past the Hurricanes 69-50.
Meanwhile the Sacred Heart Lady Trojans traveled to Oak Hill in a return game against the Lady Rams. After winning the previous meeting, Sacred Heart was unsuccessful in the re-match, falling to Oak Hill 42-34.
Here is a re-cap of those three games.

Ville Platte (G)
vs. North Central
The game was tight from the start, as the Lady Bulldogs held a 15-12 lead after one quarter of play.
Ville Platte continued to put pressure on North Central, extending their lead to 31-22 as the half came to an end.
However, the Lady Hurricanes outscored the Lady Bulldogs in the final two periods to tie the game at 57-57 as regulation eneded.
In overtime, Ville Platte was able to push past North Central by two points to pick up the win.

Ville Platte (B)
vs. North Central
Ville Platte took control of the game from the start, as they led 21-14 after one quarter of play and 36-19 at the end of the first half of play.
The Hurricanes tried to close the gap in the third quarter, outpacing the Bulldogs 15-15. But, Ville Platte closed out the game with 21 points and held North Central to only 16 points in the final quarter.

Sacred Heart (G)
vs. Oak Hill
Sacred Heart and Oak Hill both could not put much offense together from the start of the game, as the Lady Rams held an 8-6 lead after the first quarter and a 20-15 lead when the first half had come to a close.
The Lady Trojans fought their way back into the game, outscoring the Lady Rams 11-4 in the third quarter.
However, Oak Hill dominated the final period as they out-dueled Sacred Heart 17-8 in the final quarter
