Tara Elizabeth Babin of Gonzales was crowned Queen Cotton LXIV at Saturday night’s Cotton Coronation.
“It was an incredible honor,” she said about winning the Cotton Pageant. “I dreamed about becoming Queen since I was a little girl. I always watched my sister in pageants, and I wanted to be her. It’s also an honor to represent the boards.”
Babin, 21, is the daughter of Tim and Charmaine Babin of Gonzales. She is a junior at Southeastern majoring in kinesiology.
She had also represented the Gonzales Memorial VFW Post 3693 at the Cotton Festival.
“I worked for this for a while, and it felt like a huge accomplishment not just for me, but also my family,” she said about what it meant to her to win Cotton Queen.
The new Cotton Queen had shared what some of the things that she was looking forward to during her reign would be.
She said, “I love traveling, so representing the Cotton Festival in a new town every weekend should be really fun. I also can not wait to make friends with all the other pageant queens. It is going to be a great year.”
