Mamou man arrested for internet crimes against children

A Mamou man was arrested on August 25, 2017 by Attorney General Jeff Landry’s Cyber Crime Unit for internet crimes against children.
In a press release from the Attorney General’s office, it stated that “Richard Deshotel, 47 of Mamou, was arrested on 10 counts of Sexual Abuse Images/Videos of Children (under the age of 13).”
According to the release, Deshotel was “arrested and booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail following a joint investigation between the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation Cyber Crime Unit, Homeland Security Investigations, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Mamou Police Department, and the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office.”
In the release, General Landry said, “Our office and law enforcement partners will use every tool we have to locate, investigate, and arrest child predators. We want to bring those who exploit our State’s children to justice.”
General Landry asks the public to please call the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation at 800-256-4506 if they have information or concerns regarding Deshotel. Callers do not have to give their names.
