Pedestrians cited after being struck by pickup truck in VP

On Wednesday, the Ville Platte Police Chief Neal Lartigue reported that an accident occurred on Tuesday where pedestrians were hit by a driver in a pickup truck.
In a press release from the Ville Platte Police Department it stated that “on August 22, 2017 at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle accident in the area of North Chataignier and East Lincoln Road.”
The release went on to state that “upon arrival, officers learned that a Chevrolet Pickup had struck three people who were in the roadway.”
According to the release, following the accident, “the driver remained at the scene and stated that he was blinded by the headlights of an oncoming vehicle.”
The three individuals who were struck by the truck were transported to Opelousas General by Acadian Ambulance with “minor injuries.”
The release stated that “the three pedestrians were cited for obstruction of a public passage and no reflective gear.”
Chief Lartigue would like to “remind citizens that reporting suspicious and illegal activity will help remove criminals from our streets.”
