Renston Joseph Deshotel Jr.

MAMOU - Funeral services were held for Renston Joseph Deshotel Jr., 47, of Mamou, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou at 2 p.m., Wednesday, January 15. Burial followed in the First Baptist Church Cemetery in Mamou.
A devoted husband, father, son, brother and uncle, Mr. Deshotel died Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at his residence. He was not only a dedicated family man, but he also committed the better part of his adult life to serving his community. He was Ward 3 Constable, part-time deputy for the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Department, Warrant Officer and Inmate Supervisor for the Town of Mamou and a past member of the Mamou Volunteer Fire Department. His bravery and hard work were recognized by his fellow firemen and officers when he was named Fireman of the Year in 1995 and Policeman of the Year in 2009 and 2010. His loss will be deeply felt by all whom were lucky enough to have had Joe “watch their backs.”
Survivors include his beloved wife of 10 years, Vanessa Perron Deshotel of Mamou; and his two precious daughters, Krystal Paige Deshotel and Mollie Beth Deshotel, also of Mamou. He will be deeply mourned by his parents, Renston J. Deshotel Sr. and Jenny Deshotel of Mamou; and his two sisters, Leisa Deshotel and her husband, Johnny, of Mamou and Tiffany Deshotel and her companion, Rusty LaFleur, of Reddell. His memory will be carried on by his nieces and nephews, Brandon, Andrew, Meghan, Chelsi and Macy; and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Landry, Chesley, Emma, Sophia, Kynleigh and Ashton. He was also a devoted Godfather to Ferryl Deshotel II, Chelsi Gautreaux and Meghan Fusilier. His loving influence will be treasured for years to come.
