Funeral services were held for Earl Edward Savage, 70, of Mamou, at the Ardoin’s Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 23. Burial followed in the Butters Cemetery in Forest Hill.
Mr. Savage died Friday, October 18, 2013, at the Franklin Health Care Center in Franklin. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1965 and was selected for air traffic controller. During his service, he received numerous medals and commendations. He retired as a lieutenant after 26 years.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Fontenot Savage of Mamou; three daughters, Kica Savage, Cchea Savage Nugent and Neka Savage Mire and her husband, Eric; six step-children, Hank, Will, Mike, Jacques, Kimberly and Ian Dake; three brothers, Floyd, Lloyd and Stanley Savage; one sister, Juanell Savage Marks; five grandchildren, Julian Mire, Razel Mire, Draven Mire, Saylor Nugent and Sonny James; and nine step-grandchildren, Erin Dake, Alexandra Dake, Casey Dake, Samantha Alleman, Jordyn Dake, Jason Dake, Hayden Alleman, Zachary Dake and Ryan Dake.
He was preceded in by his parents, Earl Cleveland Savage and Louella Ryland Savage.
Rev. Gary Johnson officiated.
