Funeral services for James Alton Manuel were held Monday, February 13, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Pine Prairie. Burial followed in the Pine Point Cemetary.
Manuel, 82, a native of Ville Platte, was a race horse jockey for 25 years. He enjoyed playing cards.
Manuel is survived by his wife of 62 years, Willa Jane Landreneau Manuel; three sons, James Keith Manuel, of Pine Prairie, Kenneth Paul Manuel and late wife, Rebecca Guillory Manuel, of Leonville, John Kirk Manuel and wife, Monette Johnson Manuel, of Maurice; one daughter, Myra Gete´, and husband, Reginald, of Spring, Texas; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Duplag and Naia Soileau Manuel, and his six siblings.
