Shirley Ruth West

September 27, 1936 - October 7, 2013
PINE PRAIRIE - Funeral services were held for Shirley Ruth West, 77, of Pine Prairie, at Friendship Baptist Church in Pine Prairie at 10 a.m., Wednesday, October 9. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Ms. West died Monday, October 7, 2013, at her residence. She was a treasure to all who had the privilege of knowing her. To her friends and coworkers, she gave selflessly without a thought towards return. She never spared a kind word and was genuinely concerned for the well being of others. To her family and loved ones, she was a rock, a firm fixture who weathered the storms fearlessly. She built her home on Christian foundations and never squandered an opportunity to show her unconditional love for those she held dear.
Survivors include her precious children, Betty Manuel and her husband, Lee, of Bond, Jerry West and his wife, Kira, of Vienna, Virginia, Thomas Eric West and his wife, Patricia, of Bossier City and James Kevin West and his wife, Anita, of Bayou Chicot. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren, Susan, Brian and his wife, Kim, Benjamin, Wyatt, David, James, Jessica, Caleb, Olivia, Ethan and Kamryn; and was further blessed with two great-grandchildren, Kadyn and Hannah. They were her absolute greatest joy in life. She leaves behind three siblings, James Martin and his wife, Phyllis, of Rockhold, Kentucky, and Kenneth Martin and Mavis Turner, both of Roundlake, Illinois.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Holmes Bryar Martin and Mattie Ellis Martin; a son, Allen Keith West; and a daughter, Vickie Lynn West.
The West family would like to send their extreme gratitude to all who have loved and aided them through their time of loss. They feel truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.
Pastors Kevin West and Todd Richardson officiated.
