A parade of cars came to Crowley

By Howell Dennis

CROWLEY – Nostalgia reigned supreme Monday morning in downtown Crowley as the Model T Club of Tulsa rolled into town. The group which consisted of 21 Model T cars dating back as far as 1917, consisted of drivers from many states including California, Kansas, Colorado, and Indiana. The drivers and their passengers were treated to a morning of sightseeing in Crowley and Acadia Parish.

“The people seem to be having a really good time, enjoying the area,” said Mary Jones of Jones Tour Group of Tulsa, who coordinated the trip. “I can promise that everyone is going to have a good time today because if they’re not I’ll make them.”

City Hall was the first stop in Crowley as the group was met by Crowley Mayor Greg Jones, members of the city council, and several other local and parish dignitaries.

“This has been a fun morning,” said Mama Redell of Mama Redell’s Tour and Travel who was the groups “south Louisiana connection”. “These people are so nice and riding in the cars is definitely an experience.”

Redell’s wind blown hair said it all.

“Nobody told me to wear a cap,” she laughed.
