Evangeline Parish Tourney opens Wednesday

The Evangeline Parish Basketball Tournament began Wednesday at Basile High School. Both the boys’ and girls’ brackets have been set. The tournament will last through Saturday.
In the girl’s bracket, Mamou will faced off against Basile at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The second girls’ game pitted Ville Platte and Pine Prairie. Today, the losers of Wednesday’s games will face off at 3:30 p.m. The winner of the Ville Platte/Pine Prairie game will square off at 6:30 p.m. Friday will see a losers’ bracket game begin at 3:30 p.m., while the winners’ bracket game will take place at 6:30 p.m. A loser’s bracket game will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m., with the championship game scheduled for 12 p.m. An “if necessary game” would begin at 3 p.m. because of the double elimination format.
The boys’ bracket will have the same teams square off against each other in the first rounds as the girls’ bracket, only the times will be different. The first boys’ game will begin at 5 p.m. on Wednesday and the second game will start at 8 p.m. On Thursday, boys’ bracket games will take place at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively. Friday will have the same 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. start times as the previous two days. Saturday will see a loser’s bracket game begin at 10:30 a.m. with the championship game scheduled for 1:30 p.m. An “if necessary” game would take place at 4:30 p.m.
