Mamou 10U’s season ends with sixth place finish at PONY World Series

The Mamou Allstars capped their season by finishing in sixth place overall at the PONY Fast Pitch League 10U World Series held in Youngsville from July 12-16.
Mamou started off the tournament on Wednesday with a 3-3 tie with the Edgewood Longhorns, then posted a 4-1 win over the San Benito Lady Hounds before ending the day with a 5-4 loss to Edgewood.
Mamou would defeat San Benito again on Thursday with 5-4 victory to lock up a second place finish in the Brown Bracket of pool play.
Mamou was placed in the White Bracket and defeated Georgetown Pride 11-1 later Thursday as the Allstars scored four runs in the first and another five in the third.
Mamou though fell to Normoyle TX Heat 7-4 early on Friday and that dropped Mamou down in the loser’s portion of the bracket.
That didn’t stop them from racking up wins. Mamou routed Georgetown Pride again, the second time by the score of 18-1 as the Allstars scored seven runs in the first and ended the game with six runs in the fourth inning.
Mamou then edged Western Hills Dynamite 3-2 later on Friday to advance.
Mamou then started off Saturday with a 8-7 win over Los Fresnos Frenzy and posted yet another one-run victory later that morning with a 6-5 win over the San Benito.
The winning streak, and the team’s tournament run, unfortunately came to an end later that day in the final game of the loser’s bracket as Mamou fell for the second time to Normoyle TX Heat, this time by the score of 7-6.
Mamou entered the sixth inning trailing 7-1 but mounted a late-inning rally. Dotryona Jones, Jasmine Jack, Madison Fontenot, Jacelyn Pitre and Ja’Kyra Mose all scored runs with one out but the rally fell short of forcing an extra inning.
