Superior Storm romps in the Salute Stakes at Evangeline Downs

Opelousas –Superior Storm ($4.60) romped to her fourth stakes win in her last five starts in the $60,000 Salute Stakes at Evangeline Downs Racetrack and Casino on Friday evening.

Allowed to sit just off the past early pace set by A Little Tipsy, the Louisiana bred daughter of Stormy Atlantic rushed to the front approaching the top of the stretch and pulled clear under left handed urging from jockey John Jacinto to win by more than five lengths.

The running time for the seven furlongs was 1:23 4/5 on a track labeled fast.

Miss Dixie Doodle, the longest price horse in the field at odds of 26-1 finished second, 1 1/2 lengths clear of Amiabandit. A Little Tipsy, who set the early pace thru fractions of 22 1/5 & 45 2/5, checked in fourth, followed by her stablemate Peachsfromthegitgo. Tensas Gray Girl and Hisse completed the official order of finish.

Out of the Total Departure mare Alittlebitsuperior, Superior Storm has now won a stakes race at all four pari-mutuel racetracks in Louisiana. Trained by Richard Jackson and owned by her breeder, the Jac Mac Stable LLC, Superior Storm earned $36,000 for the win and pushed her career earnings past the 1/4 Million dollar mark.
