Vendors examined by Breaux Bridge

Breaux Bridge — The city fathers are scrutinizing the local policy toward itinerate vendors.

Mayor Jack Dale Delhomme brought up the issue at last week’s City Council meeting, saying it’s not fair to merchants who invest in brick and mortar to have to compete with peddlers who set up temporarily on an empty parking lot.

The issue came to light over the sale of LSU paraphernalia during the BSC Championship game, but councilmen noted that Mardi Gras brings out a lot of itinerate vendors as well.

City attorney Chester Cedars said he would look over the existing ordinances.
