Mr. Bares, Miss Miller plan January nuptials

The engagement of Miss Amber Marie Miller to Mr. Blake Allen Bares, the son of Farrell and Janet Bares of Maurice, has been announced by her parents, Gordon Miller of Opelousas and Tammy Jorden of Ville Platte.

The couple will exchange wedding vows Saturday, January 4, 2014, during a 6:30 p.m. ceremony in Abbeville.

Miss Miller, whose mother is the former Tammy Lavergne of Ville Platte, is the granddaughter of the late Joseph Sylvester Lavergne and Mary Lavergne and the late Roger Miller and Pauline Miller.

A 2008 graduate of Sacred Heart High School, she received a bachelor of science degree in nursing from McNeese State University in 2012. She is currently employed as a registered nurse with Lafayette General Medical Center.

Mr. Bares’ mother is the former Janet Broussard of Abbeville. He is the grandson of John and Gloria Broussard, Paul Bares and the late Shelby Dean Bares.

A 2007 graduate of North Vermillion High School in Maurice, he received a bachelor of arts degree from McNeese State University in May 2013. He is currently employed with CAD Solutions Inc.
