Heritage Manor News: Recognizing Columbus Day

On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus and his crew made land fall in the New World after more than two months of sailing from Spain. Their original goal was to find a route to the Far East. Columbus called the island San Salvador, which is now a part of the Bahamas, and claimed it for Spain. The second Monday in October is a federal holiday and observed in most states. Other celebrations in October for us include Halloween, a wild game cookout, Cotton Festival and bingo blowout.
Activities this week include pokeno, manicures, bingo sponsored by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Come Lord Jesus group, in-room visits, bean bag toss, VFW monthly barbecue, bingo sponsored by the VFW, ice cream party, mass, absentee voting and resident birthday party.
The staff of Heritage Manor wishes a Happy Birthday this week to Bobby Sylvester, Warren Fontenot, Freddie Sims, and Mary Gallow.
We thank Debbie Fontenot for her homemade jellies and crackers donated for us to have tasting and judging for happy hour. The residents really enjoyed this group activity.
The residents and staff of Heritage Manor are looking forward to the Cotton Festival week October 19-25. On Monday, October 19, we will attend the annual Contradanse and crown the Le Roi et La Reine. We appreciate all of the help that the festival board members give us each year, especially Kelli Buller. We encourage family members and friends to come out and join us to cheer on the new king and queen.
The staff of Heritage Manor welcomes Felicien Lejeune Jr. to the facility.
Congratulations to Brittany Thomas, who won the pride card for the month of October.
