Minister’s Corner: Our primary purpose

Every individual God has created has a primary purpose. Our lives will be without meaning, we will be failures, unless we find out what our purpose is, our reason for living. I can tell you this much, for those who haven’t a clue. It is not to eat, drink and be merry. It is not to amass a vast fortune and surround yourself with all the creature comforts of life to the detriment of your soul. Paul state his reason for living in Phillippians 3:10-11 KJV. He wrote, “That I may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made comfortable unto his death; if by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.”
What Paul was saying was that He wanted to know Christ so he could be like Him. This is our reason for living, also. We have simply to recognize it. Regardless of how successful the world might say we are, if we are not in the process of becoming like Christ, we are failing miserably. The Word of God says in Matthew 16:26 (KJV), “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” If we have not come to the Lord and asked Him into our lives, we are miserable failures headed for hell. In God’s eyes we are the worst losers that were ever born.
