Local athletes named to All-Academic team

Three Evangeline Parish gridiron players have been name to the LHSAA Composite Academic All-State Football team.
In order to be selected to the Academic All-State team, the student had to be a senior, played the sport for two years, and achieved a six-semester cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 or better based on a 4.0 scale.
Representing Sacred Heart High School with an overall GPA of 4.0 are Jacques Fontenot and Ellis LaHaye.
Representing Ville Platte High with an overall GPA of 4.0 is Trace Trahan.
The Gazette would like to congratulate these three athletes on their accomplishment. Maintaining a perfect average throughout their entire high school career while participating in athletics is what the true definition of student-athlete should be.
