Edna Belle Fontenot Fusilier

Funeral services were held for Edna Belle Fontenot Fusilier, 86, of Ville Platte, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ville Platte at 12 noon, Saturday, February 22. Burial followed in the Evangeline Memorial Park Cemetery.
A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Ms. Fusilier died Wednesday, February 19, 2014, surrounded by members of her family.
Survivors include four children, Benny Fusilier and his wife, Norene, of Opelousas, Darryl Fusilier and his wife, Janell, of Watson, Dale Rusty Fusilier of Gonzales and Carolyn Daigle and her husband, Sammy, of Carencro; and a daughter-in-law, Vickie Fontenot Fusilier of Denham Springs. She was blessed with 11 grandchildren and further blessed with 24 great-grandchildren. They were the light of her life and her greatest source of pride. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Betty Tassin of Alexandria. Her sweet spirit and gracious smile will forever remain in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to have crossed paths with her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dale Fusilier Sr.; her parents, Eustice Fontenot and Modeste Brignac Fontenot; seven siblings, Rodney, Elvin, Lionel, Burton, Verna, Hazel and Clammie; one grandchild, Holly Cherie Fusilier; one great-grandchild, Matthew Louis Walters; and one grandson-in-law, Kurt Bernard.
The Fusilier family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care and, most especially, to their mother’s devoted caregiver, Jakarra Dugas.
